Thirty years after professor Netter created the gynecology specialty, Professor Gabriel ARVIS creates the specialty of ANDROLOGY (dedicated to the external and internal genitalia of man: prostate, penis, testicles).In 1978, he opened the world's first ANDROLOGY department at the Saint Antoine Hospital in Paris.Dr. Patrick Constancis will remain his right arm for more than ten years.

Some of Dr Patrick CONSTANCIS' innovations :

- P. CONSTANCIS catheter guide described and made in 1979 at St ANTOINE Hospital : provides for atraumatic, easier penetration of soft urethral catheters in the bladder, particularly in the male patient.

- First systematic use in the world of a suprapubic catheter for prostate resections (St Antoine Hospital 1982 ; cf article revue du Praticien) : three good reasons : low pressure resection, additional post-op drainage, post-op checking of bladder function (residual urine ...)

- World premiere : discovery of the first cocktail of intracavernosal injections for the treatment of erectile dysfunction in 1982, following the discovery by Ronald VIRAG of the efficacy of papaverine on erection. Cocktails based on 2 (dimix), 3 (trimix), 4 (quadrimix) products that act on different receptors in erection function, providing for a more comprehensive rehabilitation of erectile function.

- First Prostate Resection in the world under pure local anesthesia : 1986 (St Antoine Hospital) (See articles), without general or locoregional anesthesia.

- World premiere : first treatment of inflammatory flare-ups in BPH using athermal lasertherapy (1993) (See articles)

- Finally, a holistic vision of Medicine, taking into consideration not only the superficial, physiological aspect (organs, tissues, cells, molecules used in modern medicine), but also the more subtle, quantic aspects situated between 10-13 on the Planck scale and 10-32 cm (as in Ayurvedic Medicine : Doshas and Dathus) in addition to the most subtle level beyond 10-32 cm that corresponds to the relationship between individual consciousness and the Unified Field (« quantum vacuum state »  in modern science, « Pure unlimited consciousness » in Vedic science).
